Getting Started With Email Marketing
Email marketing is a hugely valuable tool, enabling businesses to reach a far wider audience. What is great about email marketing is it requires little to no budget and allows you to reach your customers wherever they are.
Before clicking send on your first campaign, there are several steps which need to be taken care of first…
Choose a platform
When starting out with your email marketing, it is best to use a dedicated marketing platform. There are a wide range of email marketing platforms available – they are easy to navigate and allow you to create professional/user friendly emails without any coding knowledge. They are fantastic resources for non-marketers, as most offer a wide range of pre-made design templates for you to choose from.
Establishing your goals
First off, think about what it is you want to achieve from introducing email marketing. It may be to retain existing customers, introduce new products, encourage website visits or it may be all of the above.
Keep hold of these goals and use them alongside your statistics to review at a later date.
Create a plan
This doesn’t have to be set in stone but it is important to decide the frequency which you would like your emails to be sent. Decide whether this will be monthly, bi-monthly etc and schedule in time in your calendar for this, ahead of time.
The worst thing you can do is start out with good intentions, create a few fantastic email campaigns, and then lose momentum. This will do more damage than good. Regular, well-timed email contact establishes a professional image and helps your customers build confidence in your business.
Build your list
